IPL 2020: Match 24 – Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) v Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) Preview, Prediction, Probable Playing XI and Value bets.

Betting Preview

A jaded Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) face a confident Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in match 24 of IPL 2020. While KXIP are reeling at the bottom of the table with two points, KKR are fourth (six points) with three wins.

There seems to be nothing going Punjab’s way. They’ve chopped and changed in search of an ideal XI but seem to keep falling short. KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal have got the runs at the top and Nicholas Pooran is delivering in the middle overs (at times). Apart from that, the batting has been disappointing. No one has put their hand up and stood up when KXIP were in trouble.

Glenn Maxwell’s returns have been shockingly poor. He’s made a mere 48 runs in six games. The Indian batting contingent hasn’t done much either. The bowling which showed so much promise at the start of the season, especially the new ball bowlers have faded away as well. There was a point where KXIP didn’t pick up a wicket for 36.3 overs across three games.

On the other hand, KKR are shaping up well. They suffered a couple of big losses but they’ve won three games. And after the last game, they will be high on confidence. The two-time champions dramatically defended 167 as CSK were 90/1 in 10 overs before the KKR bowlers staged a remarkable comeback and they were aided by some poor batting from CSK. Their batting seems to be slightly inconsistent but their top six is one of the best this season. Their bowling has been impressive as well.

Injury and Availability News

Ali Khan has been injured and is reportedly ruled out for the entire season. Chris Gayle was supposed to feature in KXIP’s last game but was down with food poisoning. He might slot into the XI if he recovers completely.

Probable Playing XI

Kings XI Punjab

KL Rahul (c), Mayank Agarwal, Chris Gayle/ Glenn Maxwell, Mandeep Singh, PrabSimran Singh, Nicholas Pooran, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Ravi Bishnoi, Arshdeep Singh, Mohammed Shami, Ishan Porel/Hardus Viljoen

Kolkata Knight Riders

Shubman Gill, Rahul Tripathi, Nitish Rana, Eoin Morgan, Andre Russell, Dinesh Karthik (c & wk), Sunil Narine, Pat Cummins, Kamlesh Nagarkoti, Shivam Mavi, Varun Chakravarthy

Key Players to watch out for

Nicholas Pooran: After a sluggish start to IPL 2020, Pooran has come into his own. He is striking the ball beautifully. In fact, he was the one who was carrying Punjab in the last game against Hyderabad. He scored 77 off just 37 balls and was by far, the best KXIP batsman.

Andre Russell: The Jamaican all-rounder hasn’t fired yet with the bat. Russell scored just 50 runs in four innings so far. However, he has been excellent with the ball and has been KKR’s designated death bowler. He has picked up five wickets at an economy of 8.00.

Rahul Tripathi: Tripathi’s inclusion has only bolstered the KKR batting line-up. He batted at No. 8 a couple of games ago and scored a 16-ball 36 and almost helped KKR pull off a heist. However, in the last game, Tripathi was made to open and he relished the chance. He made 81 and won the player of the match for his knock. He could once again be the man to watch out for.
