It is the clash of two teams sitting at the extreme ends of the points table in the 11th match of IPL 2020. Both teams have had contrasting starts to their campaign as Delhi has 4 points, winning all of its games so far while SRH are yet to register a win, making them the only team this season yet to get off the mark.
It has been a near fairytale start for Delhi this season. After narrowly escaping a scare against Punjab by the barest of margins, they came back strongly and registered a thumping win against CSK. After posting a seemingly impressive total of 175 on the board with the help of Prithvi Shaw’s stunning knock of 64 runs and useful contributions from Dhawan, Pant and Iyer, Delhi made sure CSK were never in a position to win the match by bowling tight and utilising smart captaincy.
With two wins in two games, the Shreyas Iyer led side looks almost invincible on paper, with both their bowlers and their batsmen stepping up to the occasion and delivering in both games. Iyer’s captaincy has been commendable with all his bowling changes paying off and he will look to stretch their winning run as they take the field against a rather dejected Hyderabad at Sheikh Zayed Stadium on Tuesday.
On the other hand, it has been a nightmarish start for the 2016 champions as they have lost both their matches and will look to change their fortunes against Delhi. The major concern for SRH is an out-of-form David Warner and a very weak middle order which has been exposed early on in both their matches so far.
They will be kicking themselves for failing to score 43 runs in the last 5 overs in their first game against RCB and will be disappointed by their mediocre batting performance against KKR where they put up a subpar total of 142 which KKR chased down quite convincingly. Apart from Bairstow and Manish Pandey, all other batsmen have failed to impress and Hyderabad need to find a sustainable solution for this raging concern as quickly as possible.
They are currently missing the services of their former skipper Kane Williamson who missed out on initial games due to an injury. His inclusion in the playing XI will help to solidify their middle order. Their results so far are hardly a reflection of their abilities and one can expect SRH to go all guns blazing as the tournament progresses.
Injury and Availability News
Kane Williamson (SRH) hurt his quadricep while training and there is no update on his condition as of yet. Ishant Sharma (DC) is unfit and is unavailable for selection. Ravichandran Ashwin will also be on the sidelines after he encountered an elbow injury in the first match.

Key Players to watch out for
Shreyas Iyer: This young Indian talent is widely known for his batting prowess and even though he couldn’t convert his solid starts into big scores in the two matches he played so far, Delhi’s batting will highly depend on him. He will be itching to get a big score under his belt. His consistency with the bat and ability to lead from the front makes him an indispensable asset to his side and all eyes will be on him to get Delhi over the line here.
David Warner: The most successful overseas batsman in the history of IPL and one of the best white-ball batsmen in the world, David Warner has become a force to reckon with in the Sunrisers squad ever since his inclusion to the side in 2014. He has always led from the front and has been their best batsman for many years, winning the orange cap three times in the past 5 seasons. He is yet to impress this season, scoring only 42 runs in two games and he needs to free his arms and start winning matches for his side soon if they’re to turn things around.
Rashid Khan: Over the past couple of years, Rashid Khan has become an invaluable asset for the Sunrisers, especially near the end of an innings. His ability to exploit his slower ball and unreadable variations makes him extremely dangerous in the death overs leaving batsmen with no answer more often than not. He, however, hasn’t quite found his form yet this IPL, picking only one wicket in the two matches that SRH have played so far.
