IPL 2020: Final – Mumbai Indians v Delhi Capitals Preview, Prediction, Probable Playing XI and Value bets.
Betting Preview
After 59 games of riveting action, the Indian Premier League (IPL) has two teams still standing. It is now time for the all-important final of the 13th edition of the IPL. Four-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI) who will be up against the first-time finalists Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. These two teams have played well throughout the tournament. In the previous three meetings this season, MI have come out on top and they might start this game as slight favourites. But DC won’t take a step back either and they will come out all guns firing.
MI have been the best team in this competition so far. The defending champions have been dominant throughout the season. They haven’t lost two games in a row and every time they suffered a loss, the Rohit Sharma-led side bounced back. They finished at the top of the points table and earned a direct entry into the final after they beat Delhi in the first qualifier.
MI have a formidable line-up and it’s been an all-round performance from the entire MI squad. They have three players (Quinton de Kock, Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav) with 400+ runs and two of them are uncapped. The likes of Kieron Pollard and Hardik Pandya have delivered as well. Three players (Jasprit Bumrah, Trent Boult, Rahul Chahar) have more than 15 wickets and two of them have more than 20 wickets. Hence, MI have not relied on one or two players to get the job done. Everyone has chipped in beautifully and they look poised for their second successive and fifth IPL title overall.
On the other hand, Delhi Capitals have made it to the final of the IPL for the first time. They have been consistent over the last couple of years and are just a step away from making history. The Shreyas Iyer-led side finished second on the points table but lost in the first qualifier to MI. However, they were excellent against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the second qualifier.
Throughout the season, Delhi have found different players stepping up and that’s been one of the reasons why they’ve been successful. Shikhar Dhawan has got runs consistently and has more than 600 runs. Shreyas Iyer has had a decent season with the bat. The South African pace bowling duo of Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje have been brilliant and have played a crucial role. The spinners Ravichandran Ashwin and Axar Patel have chipped in beautifully as well. Marcus Stoinis has played an integral role with both bat and ball and has stepped up when Delhi have been under pressure. Thus, Delhi look well-rounded and ready for the final.
Injury and Availability News
For DC, Amit Mishra and Ishant Sharma were ruled out early in the tournament. Shreyas Iyer was struggling with his shoulder in the second qualifier. However, he is expected to be fit and lead Delhi in the final. All players are fit and fine for MI and everybody is available for selection.
Probable Playing XI
Mumbai Indians
Rohit Sharma (c), Quinton de Kock (wk), Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan, Hardik Pandya, Kieron Pollard, Krunal Pandya, James Pattinson/Nathan Coulter-Nile, Rahul Chahar, Trent Boult, Jasprit Bumrah

Key Players to watch out for
Jasprit Bumrah: The ace MI fast bowler has been brilliant this season. He has picked up 27 wickets at an average of 13.92 and an economy of 6.71. Every time MI need a wicket, Bumrah has delivered. Moreover, he has a superb record in the IPL finals. In the two finals he’s played (and won), Bumrah has figures of 2/26 (in 2017) and 2/14 (in 2019).
Kieron Pollard: The big man from the West Indies is another player who has stood up in the final of almost every final MI have been in. Pollard has invariably scored runs in the big game. In fact, out of the four finals MI have won, Pollard has scored 30+ in three of them (2013, 2015, 2019). Hence, he will be the one to watch out for.
Ravichandran Ashwin: The Tamil Nadu off-spinner has been bowling well this season. He did have an off-day against SRH in the second qualifier but Ashwin has been good more often than not, picking up 14 wickets at an economy of 7.72 this season. His role will be crucial in this big game with three left-handers in MI’s top seven. Moreover, he has a decent record against Pollard. Be it with the new ball or in the middle, Ashwin’s four overs might play a significant role.
