IPL 2020: Eliminator – Sunrisers Hyderabad v Royal Challengers Bangalore Preview, Prediction, Probable Playing XI and Value bets.

Betting Preview

It’s Eliminator time and we have a Southern Derby in this knockout game as Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) face the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). These two teams have had contrasting runs in this tournament righu until the end of the league stages. Both teams qualified for the playoffs with seven wins each but their current form is in stark contrast.

SRH have been on a roll in the last few games. They needed to win three out of three games and despite facing the top three teams, the David Warner-led side romped home comfortably in each of those three games. After having started the tournament indifferently, they have looked like a completely different side of late.

They made a big call of dropping Jonny Bairstow and slotting in Wriddhiman Saha at the top and that has worked wonderfully. David Warner has been a different beast with the bat as well. With Kane Williamson, their middle-order has a lot more teeth. As far as the bowling is concerned, Rashid Khan has been magnificent while Sandeep Sharma’s contributions have been vital. The likes of T Natarajan and Shahbaz Nadeem have been very consistent with the ball as well. Thus, everything has come together well and they have gelled well as a unit.

On the other hand, RCB have lost steam in the last four games and are on a four-match losing streak at the moment. They just about managed to sneak into the playoffs despite losing four. And all of those losses have been batting first and their approach with the bat hasn’t really been good.

While Devdutt Padikkal has been consistent at the top, RCB have failed to force the pace in the middle overs. That has cost them quite a bit and they need to rectify that if they want to surge ahead in the tournament. The likes of Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers have held themselves back in the middle overs and haven’t really gone out on the attack. The bowling has been decent and have delivered more often than not this season.

Injury and Availability News

RCB have a couple of injury concerns. Navdeep Saini’s split webbing didn’t heal completely before the last game. But with four days of rest, he might have recovered fully. Meanwhile, Chris Morris walked off the field after bowling his two overs and there will be a close eye on his fitness. For SRH, they have had three players (Mitchell Marsh, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Vijay Shankar) ruled out of the tournament.

Probable Playing XI

Sunrisers Hyderabad

David Warner (c), Wriddhiman Saha (wk), Manish Pandey, Kane Williamson, Priyam Garg, Jason Holder, Abdul Samad, Rashid Khan, Shahbaz Nadeem, Sandeep Sharma, T Natarajan

Royal Challengers Bangalore

Devdutt Padikkal, Josh Philippe, Virat Kohli (c), AB de Villiers (wk), Shivam Dube, Chris Morris, Moeen Ali/Isuru Udana, Washington Sundar, Navdeep Saini/Shahbaz Ahmed, Mohammed Siraj, Yuzvendra Chahal

Key Players to watch out for

David Warner: The SRH skipper has looked in ominous form in the last few games. He has two match-winning half-centuries in the last three games and has turned on beast mode. Warner has gone out on the attack right from the word-go unlike the initial games of this IPL. Thus, he will definitely be the one to watch out for.

AB de Villiers: The South African superstar will be absolutely vital to RCB’s chances. He has scored four fifties and all of them have resulted in RCB winning the game. de Villiers has looked in fine touch and has scored 398 runs this season.

Rashid Khan: The Afghanistan leg-spinner had a slightly sluggish start to this season. However, he has found his rhythm and is bowling beautifully. Rashid Khan has picked up 19 wickets and has the best economy rate (5.28) for any bowler this season. His battle with the RCB middle-order might well define this game.
