The 2024 Men’s T20 World Cup will be played in a different format from the previous two editions of the tournament. It will also see new hosts as the USA will be hosting their first global cricket event along with the West Indies.
The 20 participating teams will be divided into four groups of five teams each in the 2024 tournament, instead of the first round followed by the Super 12 in the 2021 and 2022 editions.
The top two teams in each of the four groups of five will qualify for the Super Eight phase, with the remaining sides split into two groups of four. The top two in each group will qualify for the semi-finals of the tournament.
How Teams Will Qualify For The Men’s T20 World Cup 2024
The top eight teams in Australia (top four in each Super 12 group) qualified automatically for the 2024 tournament, with Afghanistan and Bangladesh, the next best teams on the ICC Men’s T20I Team rankings, also securing their spot. The remaining eight spots for the 2024 edition will be decided in regional play.
