Early Premier League Betting: The Outright Favourites for the Golden Boot

Pep Guardiola’s Man City side are the odds on favourites to defend their crown. They will face stiff competition from the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea and Man United.

Premier League Betting

Harry Kane is the favourite to finish as the Premier League top scorer ahead of the new season having won the Golden Boot in the previous campaign. He nipped Mohammed Salah by a single goal to get his hands on the prize, his first since 2017.

Let’s take a look at the five outright favourites for the Golden Boot as we edge closer to the 2021/22 Premier League season.

Harry Kane (3.75)

Kane was outstanding last season, scoring 23 goals and registering 14 assists in the 35 matches he played for an average Spurs side. The England captain’s future in north London is still under serious question, however, with Manchester City the favourites to sign him if he is to leave, you have to think that would only strengthen his claim for the Golden Boot.

Mohamed Salah (4.50)

Mohamed Salah finished as the worthy runner up to Harry Kane last season as he ended the season with 22 goals in 37 matches in the Premier League. Salah continued with his impressive goalscoring record in the Premier League (97 goals in 158 appearances) despite Liverpool’s struggles last season.

Jurgen Klopp’s side will be looking to put in a stronger fight for the title this season and Salah will no doubt be at the front of their title charge. The Egyptian will be looking to win his third Golden Boot after winning it in both the 2017/18 and 2018/19 seasons.

Timo Werner(15.00)

The German’s first season in England’s topflight was one he’d like to quickly forget. It’s a big surprise to see Werner as the third favourite after missing so many goalscoring opportunities for Chelsea last season. He missed 18 big chances in the Premier League and only scored 6 times in his 35 appearances. If Chelsea are to bring in another striker, that could ease the pressure on the German and we could finally see the Timo Werner that left RB Leipzig as their all-time leading goalscorer.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (19.00)

We did not see the best of Arsenal’s captain last season as he only scored 10 goals in 31 league matches. It was Aubameyang’s least successful campaign in front of goal for a decade. This was down to his own poor form and lack of confidence but also playing for a dismal Arsenal side who finished eighth in the Premier League. He’ll be hoping Mikel Arteta’s men have a much better season so he can get back to the form that won him the Golden Boot in the 2018/19 season.

Raheem Sterling (19.00)

The Man City man is coming off a fantastic Euro 2020 where he scored three goals for England. He was not at his goalscoring best in the previous campaign as he only scored 10 goals in 31 league matches. His poor form led to him losing his place in the City side. With his international teammate, Jack Grealish close to joining Man City, competition for places will only get tougher at the Etihad.
