Everton are the talk of the town right now. This after making a soaring to the top of Premier League table with four consecutive wins. They have started the season with seven straight wins. The international break could play a part in halting their momentum but this is Everton’s best chance of breaking their Merseyside Derby hoodoo. 

Lots of eyes will be on Liverpool, their last match before the break was a 7-2 thrashing by Aston Villa. The result is an anomaly more than a sign of what is to come. However, they face a resurgent Everton side and it’s a really tough match to call. Below, we discuss various betting options for to you take on Saturday afternoon.

Team News

Yerry Mina suffered a thigh injury on international duty with Colombia and may miss out here. Ben Godfrey may make his Everton debut in this the Merseyside Derby. There are concerns over fullbacks Lucas Digne and Seamus Coleman. Midfielders Allan and Andre Gomes are available for selection.

For Liverpool, Thiago and Sadio Mane are both available after recovering from COVID-19. Naby Keita and Xherdan Shaqiri have also been cleared after initial positive tests during the break. Still out Liverpool is goalkeeper Alisson, leaving a huge hole in the lineup.

Things to stay the same?

Everton have failed to win their last 22 matches against Liverpool in all competitions, a run spanning back to 2010. It’s a different Everton team this season. Although, seven of the last eight head to heads at Goodison Park have been draws and each of the last three Shave ended 0-0. Even if another draw looks likely on Saturday, it should at least prove more entertaining with Everton’s new signings.
