La Liga Betting Preview and the Story So Far

La Liga returns on Thursday with a tasty Seville derby which will initiate the start of a congested schedule for all clubs who have to play 11 games in the space of 38 days. 

If you’ve forgotten how good the La Liga title race and season has been, do not stress, we’ve got you covered with the story so far.

There hasn’t been a full round of fixtures since early March so get up to speed with this brief rundown of the season.

Title Race

Despite both Barcelona and Real Madrid being far from their best, the La Liga title race is shaping up to be quite an exciting prospect. As we get back onto the field, the Clasico rivals are shaping up for one last push for a much-needed title. With 11 matchdays in five weeks, the fans are the real winners in all of this.

Whether the three-month break will have allowed some normality to resume, or heightened existing tensions and pressures remain to be seen.

Top Four – Champions League

The race for Top Four is just as intriguing as the title race and it’s tight 

with third-placed Sevilla and Valencia, in seventh, separated by just five points.

Real Sociedad are the ones to watch having won four of their last five matches before Covid-19. They’re also the top scorers with 45 – six more than the next best.

Atletico Madrid have struggled to make a serious challenge and are in sixth place, 13 points off Barcelona and in a real scrap just to make the top four. All this despite spending big in the transfer market and knocking out Champions League champions Liverpool.

Relegation

Espanyol looks a little bit cut off at the bottom, sitting six points adrift from safety – seven in reality given their goal difference, which is unsurprisingly the worst in the division.

Leganes and Real Mallorca have realistic aspirations of avoiding relegation ff they pull it off then it’ll mean a less than happy ending to the season for one or more of Real Valladolid, Eibar and Celta Vigo, who all hover just above the drop zone.

Second-bottom Leganes have to play both Real Madrid and Barcelona but it’s an even more difficult schedule for Mallorca, who are third fro bottom and just a point behind Celta Vigo but have huge six-pointers against both them and Leganes.
