But now for the fun stuff, the Bundesliga has some of the best young talents in the world, that’s unquestionable, but it’s also home to some of the finest footballers on the planet.

Below we list the Bet Central Bundesliga XI.

GK: Manuel Neuer (Bayern Munich)

Manuel Neuer may turn 35 very soon but the Bayern Munich skipper remains the best sweeper-keeper in the game – and that’s not just when racing off his line to clear the danger but also his input on attack. With close competition from RB Leipzig’s Peter Gulacsi, we have decided to stick with the tried and tested. Neuer is a world champion with seven league titles and a Champions League to his name.

RB: Achraf Hakimi (Borussia Dortmund)

Hakimi’s time at Dortmund has certified his status as a fine young footballer. Playing as a fullback, the Moroccan has been outstanding in defence while his attacking displays has most likening him to a winger. He offers so much for Dortmund on both ends of the pitch and can use either foot and pay on either side on the defence.

The 21-year-old is stunningly quick and his effort on the flanks has produced 10 assists in 37 games this season while also getting on the scoresheet seven times. If his parent club Real Madrid to do not offer him first-team football, expect tons of clubs to be interested in the youngster.

CB: Dayot Upemecano (RB Leipzig)

What a lovely sight to see Dayot Upamecano in action, and he is a centre-back but his high octane style matches with technical ability makes him an outstanding prospect and one of Europe’s most sought after defenders.

Upamecano is a physical specimen despite not being one of the tallest defenders around – his athleticism and energy make him such a valuable asset for dynamic Leipzig side.

He does sometimes struggle with consistency but remains a serious talent and an absolute joy to watch, RB Leipzig must know they are in for a decent payday once they decide to offload the Frenchman.

CB: Mats Hummels (Borussia Dortmund)

Hummels has been quietly excelling in his second stint with Dortmund – although the youngsters at Dortmund have grabbed the headlines, those who have watched Dortmund will agree that the former German international has been a success so far.

Dortmund is a young side and their defence is a sample of that, raw and sometimes naive, but the 31-year-old has helped shore that backline up and provide solidity. His partnership with exciting youngster Dan-Axel Zagadou has also been a notable plus for Dortmund.

LB: Alphonso Davies (Bayern Munich)

Bayern Munich took a big risk and have been rewarded handsomely this season for their investment in Davies. The Canadian refugee has made 21 appearances in the Bundesliga this season, electrifying and exciting the league at the tender age of 19.

Davies has predominantly played at left-back but his extraordinary speed (fastest player at Bayern) and dribbling ability has made him almost undroppable. His rise has been rapid, he has gone from a fringe player to the first-choice left-back in five months, but he seems able to handle all of the hype.

RW: Jadon Sancho (Borussia Dortmund)

Sancho’s rise to hottest property in world football has been special, he took a risk leaving Manchester City for Dortmund, both club and player have been rewarded. He is the youngest player in Bundesliga history to reach 25 goals.

This season, Sancho has upped his level, scoring 14 goals and 15 assists across 23 league games. He was the fastest player to get to double figures in both categories in Europes top five leagues. Sancho has all the flash you would expect from a talented winger but he actually has the substance (his stats) to back it up. He is his club’s biggest difference-maker, Dortmund proverbial ‘go-to-man’ and it will be interesting when Dortmund will cash in on him and offload.

CM: Thiago Alcantara (Bayern Munich)

Bayern Munich and Thiago stuttered and stumbled under Niko Kovac, but since Hansi Flick, in November he has taken his game to the next level, the level we expected when Pep Guardiola brought him from Barcelona a few years back.

The Spaniard is an aesthetically pleasing player to watch, his style brings joy, his turns, close control and eye of space is something to celebrate. He finally seems to be evolving into the special midfielder everyone knew he could be.

CM: Kai Havertz (Bayer Leverkusen)

The German wunderkind was initially underwhelming at the beginning of the season as was Bayer Leverkusen. But Havertz has shrugged off the criticism and it comes as no surprise his resurgence has meant Leverkusen are also on the up.

The 20-year-old is a wonderfully balanced player, with the ability to ghost past defenders but also split defences apart with one pass – he dynamism and range of skills which allows him to take up various position across the midfield. The playmaker has scored four goals and provided as many assists from eight league outings in 2020.

LW: Timo Werner (RB Leipzig)

Werner might not be the most popular player in the league (they say he dives a lot) but he the second-top scorer in the Bundesliga this season with 21 goals from 25 games, also he has registered seven assists. His output has been something special this year and has attracted a lot of suitors.

Before the enforced Covid-19 break, the goals were drying up (somewhat) for the German while Julian Nagelsmann has deployed him more as a winger than centre-forward. The move has worked with Werner allowed to showcase his skills in various positions on the field. His searing pace is used to terrorize opposition out wide or through the middle. A real menace for any defender, the stats tell you that he is involved in at least one goal per game in the Bundesliga.

ST: Erling Haaland (Borussia Dortmund)

The 19-year-old has been a revelation since joining in January scoring nine goals in eight Bundesliga appearances including five in his first 56 minutes. His partnership with Sancho has excited the world of football. Haaland has a massive future ahead of him as his 40 goals this season (including his time at Salzburg) which includes over five hat-tricks.

ST: Robert Lewandowski (Bayern Munich)

39 goals in 33 games across all competitions say it all really – the Polish striker is the epitome of a number ‘9’ – he has also the technical tools, physicality and the brain to match. Bundesliga Player of the Season front runner.
